Chaminade is proud to announce that three students from the Class of 2017 have achieved the distinguished honor as a National Merit Finalist: Michael McGovern, Alec Pfeffer and Justin Remelius.
The selection process for this distinction began in 2016 when these three students were part of 1.5 million juniors that took the PSAT in October. In early September of their senior year, Michael, Alec and Justin were notified that they qualified as National Merit Semifinalists based on their test scores. Only 16,000 students out of the 1.5 million PSAT test takers moved on in the National Merit Competition.
In November of their senior year, in order to advance to become a National Merit Finalist, they had to:
- Complete a lengthy application
- Submit an essay
- Submit recommendations
- Continue to demonstrate high academic standards in their classes
- Take the SAT and score in the range comparable to their PSAT score
Congratulations Michael, Alec and Justin!
