Resident Staff

In addition to Mr. James Chrismer, '85, Resident Director, there is an entire resident department support staff available to offer emotional, educational, social and medical assistance to our resident students. There are fourteen adult resident assistants (prefects) on campus, seven personal counselors and two college counselors to help nurture and aid the young men under our care. Some of the other members of the team include:

Mr. Chris Marsek, '98 — Assistant Resident Director and Activities Coordinator

As the Assistant Resident Director, Chris performs a variety of roles. Chris helps to organize and run the annual prefect training at the beginning of each school year. He also meets monthly with the Dorm Council, a group of students who represent the entire Resident Hall and who help to improve the entire resident experience. Throughout the year Chris coordinates with school organizations and local venues to create an activity schedule full of a variety of exciting and fun experiences. In addition, Chris also serves as a Prefect, staying in the dorm each weekend. Lastly, Chris teaches English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) full time to our international students, serves as the chess team moderator and coaches wrestling.

Dr. Xuan Chen — Student Services Coordinator

Xuan Chen serves as the Resident Students' Cultural Counselor. She works closely with the resident students, especially the Chinese resident students and their parents, on a daily basis. She helps the parents who are far away acquire information and answers questions they may have about the school and their sons. She also helps the international resident students better understand the rules and cultural differences about American school and life. Lastly, Dr. Chen provides emotional support and another nurturing voice for students as they adjust to the academic and residential culture at Chaminade.

Mrs. Susan Rozier, RN — School Nurse

As a full time Registered Nurse at Chaminade, Susan Rozier, RN, manages the health care needs of our young resident men, to keep them safe and healthy. Prior to school nursing, Susan worked many years as an emergency room nurse. The Health Center has an office for assessment, treatment and medication administration. We also have "sick rooms" where students can rest when it is determined to be beneficial. Additionally, we have our Virtual Care telemedicine clinic, which allows doctor visits to take place remotely with the Mercy Health System. We are one of the first schools in the country to offer this. These virtual visits enable patients to be seen by an advanced practitioner the same day, without having to leave campus. When a resident student is too sick to attend classes, he stays in the infirmary, where he can be closely monitored throughout the day by the nurse.

Ms. Elizabeth Dunlap and Mr. Tony DiSalvo — Learning Consultants

Chaminade employees two full time learning consultants to help the young men academically. Beth and Tony are available to offer instructional support, give study tips or even help with organization so that the boys can be successful in the classroom.
