Chaminade College Preparatory School, an independent Catholic and Marianist school for young men in grades 6–12, seeks a dedicated and mission driven Varsity Head Football Coach. The head football coach will guide the vision, culture, and operations of the football program, oversee all levels from freshman through varsity, and ensure the program reflects Chaminade’s Marianist mission.
Program Leadership & Vision
- Develop and communicate a clear vision and philosophy aligned with Chaminade’s mission and Marianist values.
- Set and uphold high expectations for athletic performance, sportsmanship, and personal conduct.
- Build and sustain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture grounded in respect, reflection, and service.
- Honor the program’s strong tradition while leading it into its next stage of growth and success.
- Strengthen and expand Chaminade’s football presence within the local community, youth programs, and alumni networks.
- Represent Chaminade football with professionalism, integrity, and alignment with the school’s mission in all interactions.
Program Management & Operations
- Oversee all daily operational aspects of the football program, including scheduling, budgeting, travel, facilities, and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, Sports Medicine team, and Head Strength coach to ensure athlete health, safety, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with MSHSAA regulations and all Chaminade’s policies and procedures.
- Partner with school departments–including Advancement, Admissions, Alumni Relations, and Communications–on engagement.
- Ensure efficient and well-organized practice operations, off-season conditioning, transportation, meals, and other program logistics.
- Implement a year-round conditioning plan for both single-sport and multi-sport athletes.
Coaching & Strategy
- Lead the varsity team in practice planning, game preparation, and in-game management.
- Design and implement comprehensive practice plans, off-season conditioning, and player development programs.
- Use HUDL, film, scouting, and data to inform strategy and foster continuous improvements.
- Model effective teaching, mentorship, and communication on and off the field.
- Evaluate all program levels regularly to ensure alignment, competitiveness, and consistency across freshman, JV, and varsity teams.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Hire and supervise all football coaching staff.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and shared standards for all coaches.
- Provide mentorship, feedback, and professional development to support coaching staff growth.
- Foster a collaborative coaching environment grounded in trust, and respect.
- Ensure consistent communication and alignment across all program levels in coaching, culture, and player development
Student-Athlete Development & Care
- Promote a positive environment that prioritizes well-being, balance, and healthy team culture.
- Ensure the football program is faith centered and embodies our Catholic and Marianist values.
- Guide student-athletes in developing leadership, life skills, and habits of reflection consistent with Marianist principles.
- Maintain open, timely communication with families and school support staff to promote academic and personal success.
- Coordinate with the Sports Medicine team and weight training teachers on safe training practices and injury management.
Community Engagement
- Serve as a visible and active ambassador for Chaminade football and the Chaminade community.
- Build strong relationships with area private schools, middle schools, and youth programs.
- Participate in relevant school and alumni events that support the football program and athletics at Chaminade.
- Engage in the broader life of Chaminade’s campus community, with pathways for deeper involvement beyond coaching.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience as a football varsity head coach or senior coordinator at the varsity or collegiate level.
- Evidence of effective athletic program leadership, player and team development, and competitive performance.
- Demonstrated skill in supporting student-athlete growth, well-being, and character development within a mission-aligned team culture.
- Understanding of, or openness to learning about, Chaminade’s mission and values and the role of athletics in faith-based student formation.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.
- Current NFHS and MSHSAA certifications, plus CPR and concussion management (or ability to obtain upon hire) and any other relevant certification requirements.
