FRENCH HONOR
SOCIETY

Chaminade’s chapter of La Société Honoraire de Français was established in 2007. The aim of this organization is to:
  • stimulate interest in the study of French
  • promote high standards of scholarship
  • reward scholastic achievements
  • create enthusiasm for and an understanding of Francophone cultures
  • promote international friendship
Membership in the Société Honoraire de Français is based on scholarship in the French language courses as well as general scholarship. In order to become eligible for membership, students must:
  • be in Grades 9-12
  • enrolled in a level II French course (or higher)
  • maintain at least an “A” average in French
  • maintain at least a “B” average in all other subjects
Students must also commit to tutoring 1-2 hours per month in the Academic Resource Center. While it is not required, it is highly recommended that students involve themselves in the French Exchange Program.

At graduation, members wear the distinctive red, white, and blue honor cords, representing the colors of the French flag.
