Hilltop Capital Fund
Chaminade College Preparatory School is proud to announce the establishment of the Hilltop Capital Fund, a groundbreaking initiative that empowers students to delve into the world of finance through hands-on investment experiences. This program marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in St. Louis, providing high school students with the opportunity to research, analyze, and invest in real stocks using real capital.
The Hilltop Capital Fund aims to equip students with practical financial skills, preparing them for future success in both personal and professional endeavors. By immersing themselves in the intricacies of financial markets, students will gain invaluable insights into investment strategies, risk management, and the dynamics of global economics.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Hilltop Capital Fund, which represents a bold step forward in our commitment to providing holistic education to our students," said Dr. Todd Guidry, President of Chaminade College Preparatory School. "This program not only enhances financial literacy but also fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership skills essential for navigating the complexities of the modern world."
Under the guidance of Mark Heffernan, Chaminade Class of 1982, and a Partner at Moneta Group, participating students will learn how to develop and manage a diversified financial portfolio, employing fundamental and technical analysis to make informed investment decisions. Through simulated trading sessions and real-world investment opportunities, students will gain practical experience in asset allocation, portfolio optimization, and performance evaluation.
"We believe that hands-on learning is the most effective way to cultivate financial literacy and investment acumen among our students," said Mr. Tim Sartori '98, who along with Mr. Scott Kugler, will be moderating the Chaminade Investment Club, which will manage the fund. "By actively managing real capital in a controlled environment, students will develop a deeper understanding of financial markets and build confidence in their ability to navigate investment landscapes."
The Hilltop Capital Fund is made possible by the generous support of an anonymous donor who gifted the school $250,000 to start the fund. Chaminade College Preparatory School is grateful for this support, which underscores the donor's commitment to advancing financial education and empowering future generations.
Additionally, a new scholarship will be created out of the fund, with student members of the Chaminade Investment Club developing the criteria for how the scholarship will be awarded.
The Hilltop Capital Fund exemplifies Chaminade's commitment to innovation while upholding its tradition of providing a Catholic, Marianist education. By providing students with access to cutting-edge resources and experiential learning opportunities, Chaminade College Preparatory School continues to empower the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.
