Shadow Visit

Shadow Visits are an important way for a young man to experience what it is like to be a Chaminade student on a daily basis. Prospective students are paired with a Chaminade ambassador to visit 2 classes, a homeroom period called Mentor Group through our formative House System, tour the campus, and have a free lunch with our students.

Students interested in 9th grade for the 2027-2028 school year may visit starting September 8
Students interested in 6th, 7th or 8th grade for the 2027-2028 school year may visit starting October 1

**Any middle school interested student that accidentally schedules for September will be asked to reschedule, as those dates are reserved for high school interest only as the high school application deadlines are sooner than middle school.

Day Students interested in transferring into high school in grades 10th, 11th, or 12th should contact the Admissions Department before scheduling a visit. [email protected]

Parent Tours are offered at the beginning of your son's visit after they go off with their Chaminade ambassador. Tours take about 60-90 minutes. If you cannot join the tour, we can arrange a tour for you another day.

Frequently Asked Questions About our Shadow Visits!

What is the schedule?

9:00 AM - Shadow visitors and their parents will start the visit with a 15-minute presentation from Admissions (8:45 AM on specific days).
9:15 AM - Shadows will be picked up by their selected Chaminade ambassador and go to Mentor Group (homeroom) and interact with students of different grade levels through various activities. Admissions will start the Parent Tour once all boys have been picked up by their ambassadors.
9:40 AM - Shadows visit their first class
11:05 AM - Depending on the ambassador's schedule, shadows will either go to 30-minute lunch then visit their second class or start with class then go to lunch
1:00 PM - Shadows will tour the campus with their ambassador (this is a good time to ask to see certain places and meet other teachers/staff)
1:30 PM - Shadows return to complete a survey and be picked up in the same place as the start of the visit (1:45 PM on days that start at 8:45 AM)

Who will meet you on campus?

Can my son request a particular class he wants to see or student he wants to shadow?

Yes, he may request to see certain classes/subjects or to be with a Chaminade student he may know. At the bottom of the the scheduling form, you can list the name of the Chaminade student your son would to shadow, any classes he wants to see in ranking order (for example: 1. Science, 2. Art, 3. Latin, etc.), and any extracurricular programs he may want to learn more about from students and staff.

Admissions will prioritze these requests and will do its best to accomodate. Factors that may affect your son's request include if a desired ambassador has tests during the duration of the shadow visit, if the ambassador is sick from school, or if the desired classes have quizzes/tests. He will see two classes during the shadow day, so it is recommended to list more than one class or subject he is interested in. If requests are not able to be accomodated perfectly, Admissions will still place your son with an ambassador who has engaging classes and shares similar interests to your son.

Can parents tour campus the same day their son has his Shadow Visit?

Yes, and we encourage parents to do this. Once students are paired with their student ambassadors, parents can tour our campus beginning at 9:00 AM.
