Marianist Service Program
“In order to live eternally, we do not need to cheat death, but to serve life, by caring for others in this, our time together. That is the supreme law that is prior to all society’s rules and gives them their meaning.”
-Pope Leo XIV
The Marianist Service Program at Chaminade exists as a directed, student initiated method of doing service and participation in justice. It aims at formation of lay leadership in the Church, imitation of Christ, men who both care and serve, quality of reflection, greater awareness and appreciation of others, and compassion for the poor and disenfranchised. All students complete community service as a component of their formation and education each year. Students are required to participate in service to their family, church, school and community.
The number of hours and the types of projects required varies with each grade level. Service requirements increase as students move from middle school to high school and from underclassmen to upperclassmen. Students attending Chaminade for all seven years will perform a minimum of 210 service hours. Below is a list of the current requirements for each class.
